On the sidelines of the 43rd Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agency (OANA) which was held on Monday (Spet 3rd), IRNA chief Zia Hashemi met Yoichi Kosukegawa, the deputy managing director of Kyodo news agency and expressed his satisfaction with the presence of the representative of the Japanese news agency at the meeting. He hoped that the cooperation of the two new agencies will be deepened.
He noted that Iran and Japan enjoy deep-rooted relations in various fields and they should strengthen their ties in media sector as well.
As an important news agency in the world, Kyodo along with IRNA as the official News Agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran can have a major effect in the world, Hashemi said.
The managing director of IRNA went on to say OANA is a good opportunity to meet and interact with various news agencies in the world.
Hashemi referred to Japan's progress in media industry, saying, 'We can invite a Japanese delegation to visit Iran's news agencies and to share ideas and technological developments. We are also prepared to send a delegation from Iran to share their experiences with Japan.'
Yoichi Kosukegawa expressed his happiness at partaking in the meeting in Iran. He added the newly-appointed managing director of Kyodo could not attend the meeting due to his tight schedule.
The 43rd OANA Executive Board Meeting was hosted by IRNA on Monday with senior officials from news agencies of member states attending it.
OANA was founded in 1961 to facilitate information dissemination among the countries in the region, and 44 news agencies from 35 countries of the Asia-Pacific continent are members of the organization.
